Dictionary Entry Exchange: If you are using a Diamante V2.8367 or higher and Case CATalyst V13.0 or higher, dictionary definitions (D, J, K or Other dictionary defines) made in the Case CATalyst realtime file are automatically sent to the Diamante. J-defines made on the Diamante, are automatically sent to the Case CATalyst realtime file. These dictionary entry exchanges occur when writing realtime via a USB or WiFi connection. The definition exchange does not occur during a Bluetooth realtime connection. Diamante J-defines are added to the CATalyst realtime file's Global Table. All definitions apply to all new realtime steno written. All Case CATalyst dictionary defines are added to the Diamante's current job dictionary and to the Diamante's dictionary in memory. NOTE: If you do not want the Diamante dictionary entries stored in the dictionary in memory to apply to the next job on the Diamante, you can manually clear the memory. From the Opening menu, press Dict, J-Defines and then Clear. At the Are You Sure prompt, select Yes. Press Quit twice to return to the Opening menu. Brief It: An optional Brief It feature is available on the Diamante V2.8367 or higher. If Brief It is active, when 3 or more strokes are written for the same text more than once, the Diamante will suggest a brief. The suggested brief displays to the right of the translated text. Suggested briefs display with a yellow background, used briefs with a gray background and reminder briefs with a green background. The Diamante's Brief It feature was designed to be used when not writing realtime to your CAT system or if your CAT system does not have a brief generating feature. When writing realtime to Case CATalyst, we strongly recommend you use either the Diamante's Brief It or Case CATalyst's Brief It feature, but not both at the same time. If you accept a brief on your Diamante and you are writing realtime to Case CATalyst V13 or higher via USB or WiFi connection, the J-define is sent to Case CATalyst in addition to being saved to the Diamante's job dictionary and dictionary in memory. Writing realtime to Case CATalyst via a Bluetooth connection does not send the accepted brief to Case CATalyst. To activate Brief It on your Diamante, do the following: 1) From the Opening menu (no job open), press Setup. 2) At the Setup menu, press Trans. Opt. 3) At the Trans. Opt. menu, use the Down button to move the cursor (>>) to the Use Brief It option and press On/Off to activate Brief It. 4) Do any of the following: * Use the Down button to move the cursor to the Write Twice to Define option to activate or deactivate the option. When you use a suggested brief, you will write it twice the first time to accept it (J-define) and then all subsequent uses only need to be written once. * Use the Down button to move the cursor to the Only Suggest One Stroke Briefs option to activate or deactivate the option. * To save your changes, press OK. If you are trying Brief It for the first time, we recommend you use the default settings: * Write Twice to Define * Only Suggest One Stroke Briefs. For more information about rejecting or suggesting a new brief, or clearing the dictionary in memory, please download the Diamante V2.8367 User Guide available at www.stenograph.com.
