This Readme file can be printed by right clicking and selecting Print. * The Connection Wizard option defaults to Yes in all new installations of CaseViewNet 2.6.0. * The Dynamic Index now defaults to displaying on the right side of the CaseViewNet screen and defaults to All Open Documents when a file is opened in CaseViewNet. * The default setting for the Auto Reconnect Max option is 15 and will affect all new installs of V2.6.0. * Improved the interface between Case CATalyst V12.5 and CaseViewNet 2.6.0. - Corrected the Case CATalyst CaseViewNet protocol to properly send the right margin settings for paragraph styles. In previous versions of CaseViewNet, indented right margins were not displaying properly. - The CaseViewNet file will now reflect the same starting page number as the Case CATalyst file. In previous versions, the CVNet file would always reflect page 1. For example, if the CATalyst file is a continuation of a job and the starting page number is 143, the CaseViewNet file will reflect page 143. o0o Version 2.5.0 Build 6620 * If you have Save rights, the CaseViewNet file can be printed. With the transcript open, select File and then select Print. All or selected pages of transcript can be printed. Print Preview is also available. * Made internal changes to CaseViewNet to improve the performance when annotations are being made during the realtime session. o0o Version 2.4.0 Build 5505 * The ESC key will now toggle between Follow Realtime and Off Line modes. The ESC command is in addition to the Ctrl + o command and clicking the Follow Realtime icon. * Corrected an issue where Marks would not display if the transcript did not contain line numbers. This has been corrected. * Corrected an issue where the cursor may not have been visible when navigating the transcript with the arrow keys. * Corrected a cursor movement issue when moving from page to page. The cursor now moves smoothly between pages. * Corrected an issue which may have caused incorrect page numbering in CaseViewNet. The page numbering should now match the CATalyst transcript. * Corrected an issue where blank lines may have been suppressed in CaseViewNet. For example, if your CATalyst transcript for Colloquy was , the blank New Line Paragraph was being supressed. This has been corrected. * Corrected a rare issue that may have caused an exception 3 error. o0o Version 2.3.0 Build 4661 * A Demo file is available to show a simulated realtime serial connection. If you select Realtime, Demo, CaseViewNet will display a connection screen and scroll text as if a realtime serial connection was established. A Demo toolbar automatically displays when Demo is selected. You can Play/Pause the demo, you can disconnect which terminates the connection (stops the demo), slow down or speed up the demo playback. Since this emulates a serial connection, the Quick Finds Next/Previous Q and A searches are not active. * The following file types can be opened in CaseViewNet: - CaseViewNet file *.sgcvn - this is a native CaseViewNet file or a final Case CATalyst version 11 or higher file that was exported to CaseViewNet. - Web pages *.html - LiveNote Portable Transcript file *.ptf - this is a LiveNote transcript file type. - CaseViewNet Recover file *.cvnrf - this is a file that CaseViewNet recovered due to an unexpected closing of CaseViewNet. - LexisNexis TextMap Portable Transcript file *.xmptf - this is a TextMap transcript file. - CaseView II transcript file *.cv - this is a file that was created and saved in CaseView II. - CaseView II ASCII file *.txt - this is a Case CATalyst (or other CAT vendor) transcript that has been exported using CaseView II ASCII options. - All Files *.* - CaseViewNet will analyze the file extension and file contents to determine if the file can be opened. This might be used if you have received a CaseView II ASCII file with an extension other than .txt. If CaseViewNet cannot open the file, a message will display. * If this is the first time you are installing CaseViewNet, there are three default Quick Issue assignments. Follow-up, Doc/Info Request and Credibility have been assigned to the first three quick issues. These can be modified if desired. If you already have quick issue assignments, they will not be affected. * Right click has been implemented. The options displayed on the right click menu depend on whether you are right clicking on text, text with an annotation or text with multiple annotations. You can either insert or modify notes and/or issues, add or remove marks, or remove all annotations. In addition, you can search for the current text, search the Dynamic Index for the current text or search using the specified search engine in the System Options, Web Browser, Quick Search option. An established Internet connection is necessary to search the Internet. (See below for more information on specifying the search engine.) * The System Options, Web Browser, Quick Search feature's default setting is Google. You can remove the default or add additional search engines. The last search engine used displays in the right click menu. * Tooltips are available when the cursor hovers over text that contains an annotation. The tooltip displays the issue name if an issue is assigned or the contents of a note if a note is assigned. * The Quick Finds menu (Search/Quick Finds) has been modified to include the following options: - Next Text allows you to position your cursor on a word or phrase and press Ctrl + t to move to the next occurrence of that word or phrase. - Previous Text allows you to position your cursor on a word or phrase and press Ctrl + Shift + t to move to the previous occurrence of that word or phrase. - Next Issue allows you to position your cursor on an issue and press Ctrl + F8 to move to the next occurrence of the same issue. - Previous Issue allows you to position your cursor on an issue and press Ctrl + Shift + F8 to move to the previous occurrence of the same issue. * The Generate Reports feature has increased the size of the text font and also remembers the last report items selected. * Save As function includes the ability to save the file as an *.odt file type. odt file types are OpenDocument text files which can be opened and edited with any OpenOffice-compatible program. * The System Options/Connections section has been modified to include the Prompt Available Servers option in the IP Address field. This is recommended for a user that always uses the network connection but connects to different Case CATalyst reporters. The connection Wizard option must be set to No. When you attempt to establish a connection, CaseViewNet will display the available servers. * Auto-clipboard copy option is available on the Annotate menu. Once this feature is selected and you have save rights, when you copy text, the text is automatically copied to the Windows clipboard making that text available in other programs. * The Synchronize feature is available to allow a user to open a saved realtime file in which marks, notes and/or issues were made and synchronize it with the final (edited) transcript provided by a reporter. This feature is designed to synchronize realtime files received via a network/WiFi connection and not intended for serial connections. To synchronize a realtime file and final transcript, open the realtime file and then select Synchronize. In the Open the Final Transcript that will be used dialog box, in the File of type field, select the specific file type if it is not .sgcvn. Navigate to the location of the final transcript and click Open. CaseViewNet will attempt to synchronize the final transcript with the saved CaseViewNet file. o0o Version 2.1.2 Build 4254 * Corrected a rare occurrence when attempting to connect, where the CaseViewNet system nevers makes the connection. If the connection was lost and attempting to reconnect, lower right hand corner may display Connecting... If this occurred when attempting to initially connect, a variety of messages could have displayed but you would see that the initial connection never completed. In most cases, this issue may have occurred if the CaseViewNet client's wireless connection jumped to another wireless connection and then attempted to connect to the original connection. Please Note: It is very important that you stay current with your router's firmware. Please go to the Linksys site and download the latest firmware for your router. Go to: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support type in your model number and check for updated firmware. o0o Version 2.1.1 Build 775 * Added Blocked Message when a court reporter is using Case CATalyst version 10 and blocks a CaseViewNet Client from connecting to his/her realtime session. When a reporter blocks a CaseViewNet Client, a Blocked message displays along with any text the reporter has typed to explain why the client was blocked. o0o Version 2.1.0 Build 613 * A View Readme.txt option has been added to the Help menu. * A Sample Transcript.sgcvn has been loaded into the Data folder. This will allow a user to open a sample transcript if desired. * Serial communications has been added to CaseViewNet. Serial communications is compatible with any current CAT system that can send realtime data via the CaseView protocol. The same CaseView II crossover cables and adapters are used. The transcript is set to Tahoma 12-point font. When receiving a serial feed on CaseViewNet, the transcript can best be viewed using Normal view. CATalyst Output to CaseView options: 1) Output over comm port option and Direct option must be selected. 2) If you want timestamps displayed in the CaseViewNet file, you need to select Clock and your CATalyst transcript must have timestamps. Elapsed time is not available. 3) All other CaseView II options have no affect on the CaseViewNet file. CaseViewNet Options/System Options/ Connections: 1) Select Direct in Connection Type. 2) Auto Reconnect options can be set to your desire. See Things to Know below for more information. 3) COM Port option defaults to 2400 baud which is the same baud rate as CATalyst. It is highly recommended to leave the baud rate at 2400 and most important to have the CAT system baud rate and receive system's baud rate match. THINGS TO KNOW: 1) When sending via serial connection, if realtime stops, CaseViewNet does not display a “connection lost” message as it does with a Network connection. If communication is lost on the CaseViewNet side (USB to serial adapter removed), a lost connection message will display. The connection retries are almost instantaneously. If the connection is re-established with the same COM port, you can select Retry and establish connection again. 2) No Rapid Refresh is available on the CaseViewNet via a serial connection. 3) CaseViewNet users (via serial connection) only get the transcript at the point of connection. (In other words, if the connection is established late, the user only gets the transcript from that point forward.) 4) Upgrade Password option is grayed out and not available. (CaseViewNet user has full rights to save the file, as the reporter cannot control the access to the file.) 5) The Connection Info option shows your last connection (COM port, baud rate, CaseView II) and is read only. 6) When sending via serial connection, if there is no open file in CaseViewNet a New Transcript file will automatically be opened. If there is an open file, you will be prompted to append or start a new file. * Corrected an issue that caused the Dynamic index not to display certain words that appeared in the transcript after a table. * Corrected the page number display at at the bottom of the screen. It will no longer be cut off once there are more than 99 pages. * Corrected several issues that may have resulted in an exception 3 error. o0o Version 2.0.0.0 Build 235 * If you had a previous version of CaseViewNet, the first time you run this version you will receive a message prompting you to "reset" your customized toolbar and load the new one. You are getting this message because a new menu item has been added to the View menu. Do one of the following: Select Yes (recommended) which will result in adding any new items but will reset all the toolbars to the default settings. If your toolbars were customized, you will need to customize them again. Select No which will result in no change to your menu but the Dynamic Index menu choice will not display under the View / Show Windows submenu. You will need to customize your menu to have the Dynamic Index listed. * In order to comply with Windows Vista(tm) concerning the storing of files in the Program File folder, after running this version of CaseViewNet, the CaseViewNet Data & Report folders will be moved to your My Documents (Documents in Vista) folder. For example, Documents\Stenograph\CaseViewNet\Data. The CaseViewNet System Files folder will be moved to the App Data folder. When you Open or Save a file, the new location will be the default for CaseViewNet files. * A clearer indication of the current page number was added to the Status bar. The word "Page" followed by the actual page number will display immediately before the current page/last page indicator. For example: Page 12 12/89. * The Follow Realtime icon will flash when not in the Follow Realtime mode. By default, the Flash When Not Following Realtime option is turned On. To change the setting, do the following: 1) From the Options menu, select System Options and then click Warnings & Notifications. 2) Select No for the Flash When Not Following Realtime Option. 3) Do one of the following: * Click OK if that is the only change you are making. The change is saved and the System Options dialog box closes. * Click Apply to save the change and move to another section in the System Options dialog box. * The Copy command is available if you have the "Rights" to save the file. In the lower right hand corner of the CaseViewNet Client screen, the File Rights: is displayed, followed by either All Rights or Reports Only. If you have All Rights, you can highlight text with the mouse and copy (Ctrl + c or Ctrl + Insert) testimony from the file into a note, another file or into another program. * A Dynamic Index feature has been added in which all occurrences of the words in a transcript or multiple transcripts are available in a dialog pane. By default, the Dynamic Index dialog pane and the results of indexing the current document is displayed. If one transcript is being indexed, the Page number followed by a colon followed by the Line number will display for every occurrence of the word. For example, if the word "blood" occurs on page 5 line 23, the index will display as 5:23. If you double click the page and line number, the cursor will move to that occurrence in the transcript. If more than one transcript is being indexed, the Document number, followed by a colon, followed by the Page number, followed by a colon, followed by the Line number will display for every occurrence of the word. For example, if there are three transcripts open and All Open Documents is the index option, each transcript will be given a number starting in the order the transcripts were opened. If the word "blood" occurs in the second transcript on page 5 line 23, the index will display as 2:5:23. There are three choices for indexing, Current Document, Connected Document and All Open Documents. For more information on the Dynamic Index feature, please use the CaseViewNet Help. * The Find Dynamic Index Word option has been added to the Search menu. When selected the Find Dynamic Index Word option, the cursor will be positioned in the Find field of the Dynamic Index dialog pane. If the Dynamic Index dialog pane is not displayed, then the dialog pane will be opened and the cursor positioned in the Find field. * Warning messages when closing a file have been added. You can select to whether or not to display a message when closing a file. To change any of the warning settings, go to Options, System Options and click Warnings and Notifications. Modify any of the following: 1) The Closing Connected Document option is defaulted to Yes. If you select to Close a transcript that is still connected to a live feed, the following warning will display: Shutdown CaseViewNet with a live connection? Closing CaseViewNet will terminate your connection and then prompt you to save the transcript. If you want to terminate the connection and stay in CaseViewNet, select Realtime, Disconnect. 2) The Prompt Reports Before Closing (No Save Rights) option is defaulted to No. If you change this option to Yes, when you close a CaseViewNet file in which you do not have rights to save the transcript, you will be prompted to generate a report. 3) The Prompt Reports Before Closing (Always) option is defaulted to No. If you change this option to Yes, whenever you close a CaseViewNet file (whether you have save rights or not), you will be prompted to generate a report. 4) The Warn Annotations Only Rights option is defaulted to Yes. If you save a realtime session and you do not have save rights, you will be prompted to save your annotations.
